Artist Statement

I create sculptural, utilitarian ceramics. I started making this design about 9 years ago and continued to slowly hone my craft over the years. Though unmistakably cohesive, no work is the same in color, form, or texture. I combine the smooth, symmetrical lines of wheel-thrown forms with an organic sculptural element.

My work is ultimately an exercise in body neutrality. After existing in a near constant state of hyper surveillance regarding my own body and appearance, this became the natural solution. I am delighted by the unexpected sight of breasts on an ordinary object like a mug. In a world where breasts are over-sensationalized and over-censored, my work forces the viewer the confront their own internalized biases. It is acceptance, it is a celebration, it is a challenge. I strive to provide a singular experience with each piece of my pottery.
